Clay W. Hatler 90, of Noblesville, IN, passed away at Riverwalk Village, Noblesville, on February 13, 2010. Born a son of Kentucky, he served in the United States Army in the European Campaign of WWII. He landed on Utah Beach during the Invasion of Normandy, fought in battles across five countries and survived The Battle of the Bulge as a soldier of the famous 4th Infantry Division of the Army. He was a highly decorated veteran earning many honors, among them a Combat Infantry Badge and five Bronze Stars. He belonged to the American Legion, the VFW, and the NRA.For 32 years after the war he was a successful general contractor and concrete contractor in the Calumet Region in Northwest Indiana. After that, Clay and Cordelia moved to Ft Myers, FL, for 14 years, then moved to Noblesville, IN, in 2001.Survivors include his wife, Cordelia (Corns) Hatler, daughter, Elizabeth (Barry) Chapman of Carmel, IN, grandchildren, Kirk Chapman of New York City, Liza Chapman and Wes Chapman of Carmel, and great granddaughter Madeleine Chapman of New York City.Military Services are pending at this time, but hopefully will be Wednesday, February 17th 2010 at the Indiana War Memorial. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. He will be laid to rest atIndiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN.
